If you don't know what to do during the weekends of October, here's a date for you to mark on the calendar: on October 7th and 8th, 2023, the festival Castagne, Streghe e… dintorni (lit. Chestnuts, Witches, and... Surroundings) will take place in Rovenna (CO).
It's a celebration that embraces the traditions and flavors of both Rovenna and, of course, Como. Initially, the Rovenna Sports Group created this event based on a main theme: chestnuts. Only later did the witches become "added" to it.
The objective was to connect with the Rovenna tradition: the local women were knowledgeable about healing herbs, and it's from here that the concept of witches originated. Another fundamental and representative aspect of the festival was the territory itself: hence the chestnuts, a primary source of sustenance.
So, once you arrive in Rovenna, what will you find?
A magnificent, festive characteristic village, adorned for the occasion, with performances for everyone!
The witches will guide you to discover hidden corners and picturesque views. Market stalls will offer handmade crafts and gastronomy. The aroma of roasted chestnuts will tempt you throughout the day, and you'll also have the opportunity to taste the finest local dishes... not to mention the typical desserts!
For the little ones, there will also be storytellers and face painting, making their experience unforgettable!
To reach Rovenna and its event, there are two options: on foot or through a shuttle service departing from Cernobbio.
